Recall of Tuna Products in Seven States Due to Listeria Concerns

Several tuna products sold in seven states have been recalled due to Listeria contamination concerns, with no reported illnesses so far. Learn more about the safety measures and product details.
Several tuna products sold across seven U.S. states have been voluntarily recalled amid fears of Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recall specifically affects certain tuna salad and ready-to-eat foods containing tuna salad. The initial recall was issued on July 21, 2025, by Reser's Fine Foods, based in Beaverton, Oregon, after it was discovered that breadcrumbs used as an ingredient may be contaminated. The affected products were sold at Jewel-Osco stores in Illinois, Indiana, and Iowa, and at Albertsons, Randalls, and Tom Thumb stores in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas.
So far, there have been no reported illnesses linked to these recalled products. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has emphasized the importance of discarding or returning these items to the point of purchase for a full refund. The products have "Sell Thru" dates from July 16 to July 19, 2025.
Consumers who purchased the affected tuna products are advised to thoroughly clean and sanitize any surfaces or containers that may have come into contact with the products, as Listeria bacteria can survive on surfaces and potentially cause contamination. Symptoms of Listeria infection include diarrhea, vomiting, and upset stomach, and it poses serious health risks to pregnant women, older adults, and immunocompromised individuals.
The specific recalled items include various tuna salads and sandwiches with UPC codes such as 29125900000, 27183000000, 21500300000, among others. Customers are urged to dispose of these items or return them for a refund. For additional information, the FDA website provides further details about the recall.
This proactive recall highlights the importance of food safety measures and vigilance in preventing foodborne illnesses from contaminated seafood products.
