Salmonella Outbreak Linked to Metabolic Meals Results in 16 Illnesses, CDC Reports

A Salmonella outbreak linked to Metabolic Meals has sickened 16 people across 10 states. Consumers are advised to discard affected products and seek medical attention if needed.
A recent Salmonella outbreak has been traced back to the home-delivery meal service, Metabolic Meals, leading to at least 16 confirmed cases across 10 states and seven hospitalizations, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The outbreak was associated with specific meal batches produced and shipped during the week of July 28. Consumers are urged to check their refrigerators and freezers for affected products and avoid consuming them.
The CDC identified several meal items linked to the outbreak, including:
- Four Cheese Tortellini with Pesto Sauce and Grilled Chicken (Lot Code 25199, Best By 08/07/2025)
- Low Carb Chicken Teriyaki and Vegetables (Lot Code 25202, Best By 08/05/2025)
- Black Garlic & Ranch Chicken Tenders with Roasted Vegetables (Lot Code 25205, Best By 08/08/2025)
- Sliced Top Sirloin with Roasted Peanut Sauce and Summer Vegetables (Lot Code 25203, Best By 08/06/2025)
Additional impacted lot codes include 25199, 25202, 25203, 25204, and 25205. The CDC recommends that anyone who purchased these products discard them immediately or contact Metabolic Meals for further instructions.
The cases have been reported in California, Missouri, Georgia, Minnesota, Texas, Arkansas, Illinois, Rhode Island, Wisconsin, and Washington state. However, the actual number of illnesses is likely higher, as confirmation can take several weeks. Metabolic Meals is actively working with health investigators and has reached out directly to affected customers.
Symptoms of salmonella infection include vomiting, diarrhea (sometimes bloody), cramping, and fever. The CDC emphasizes the importance of recognizing these signs and seeking medical attention if symptoms develop.
