Recall of Ritz Peanut Butter Crackers Due to Labeling Error

A nationwide recall of Ritz Peanut Butter Crackers has been issued due to labeling errors that pose serious allergy risks. Consumers with peanut allergies should discard affected products immediately.
In a recent safety alert, federal health officials announced the nationwide recall of several Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwich products because of a labeling mistake that could pose health risks. The issue involves packaging that incorrectly labels some products containing peanut butter as cheese, which can be dangerous for individuals with peanut allergies or severe sensitivities. Mondelēz Global LLC, the parent company of Ritz, issued this recall as a precaution, despite no reported injuries or illnesses thus far.
The recall affects specific sizes and lot codes of Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwich cartons, including:
- 8-pack carton (UPC: 0 44000 88210 5; Best By: Nov. 1–9, 2025; Plant Code: AE)
- 20-pack carton (UPC: 0 44000 07584 2; Best By: Nov. 1–9, 2025, and Jan. 2–22, 2026; Plant Code: AE)
- 40-pack carton (UPC: 0 44000 07819 5; Best By: Nov. 1–9, 2025, and Jan. 2–22, 2026; Plant Code: AM)
- 20-pack Filled Cracker Variety Pack (UPC: 0 44000 08095 2; Best By: Nov. 2–9, 2025; Plant Code: RJ)
These packaging errors could cause serious or even life-threatening allergic reactions in consumers with peanut allergies if the products are ingested. Consequently, health officials advise anyone with a peanut allergy to avoid consuming these products, regardless of whether they appear to be cheese-flavored, and to discard them immediately.
Photos of the affected products are available on the FDA’s website for identification. To eliminate any risk, consumers are urged to check the UPC and Best When Used By dates before purchasing or consuming Ritz products. Mondelēz has emphasized that other Ritz products not associated with this recall are safe for consumption.
For more details and images of the recalled items, see the official FDA recall notice. This recall is an important reminder of the necessity of proper labeling to ensure consumer safety.
