In a significant food safety alert, over 32,000 pounds of meat products have been recalled nationwide after being sold with counterfeit USDA inspection labels. The recall affects products from Sabrositos Hondurenos, LLC, a company based in New Jersey, which distributed these items to retail stores and restaurants across the United States.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) revealed that the products bore an inspection number, EST. 1785, which is unrecognized and does not correspond to any certified facility. This discrepancy raises concerns about the authenticity and safety of the meat, prompting the recall.

Products involved in this recall include various types of chorizo sausages, pork chops, ribs, and other processed meat items, all packaged in 14-ounce vacuum-sealed bags. Notable items include Homestyle Chorizo labeled "OLANCHO Chorizo Suelto Olanchano SABROCITOS HONDUREÑOS," smoked pork chops under the label "OLANCHO Chuleta Ahumada Olanchana," smoked chorizo, cased homestyle chorizo, spicy BBQ chorizo, and smoked ribs.

These products were produced before August 20, 2025, and distributed to markets across the country. The USDA emphasizes that the investigation is ongoing, and additional products may be added to the recall list as more information becomes available.

Importantly, there have been no reported cases of illness or adverse reactions linked to these products so far. Nonetheless, FSIS considers the items "misbranded and unsafe to eat," urging consumers to avoid purchasing or consuming the affected items. Restaurants are advised not to serve these products, and anyone experiencing adverse health effects after consumption should seek medical attention.
